Bishop of Corfu, Mr. Nektarios: “All Greeks need to be united as a whole.”
On Sunday, January 28, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios blessed and cut the New Year’s Vassilopita (Greek Cake) in the charity breadline (queue for charity food) in Mandouki, next to the Church of Saint John Lazos.
In his greeting, his Eminence thanked all the volunteers for the wonderful work they do on a daily basis while stressing that during our times, our society is characterized by spiritual and moral degeneration and therefore, the need for mutual help between people is crucial.
Furthermore, Mr. Nektarios on the occasion of the recent issue of Skopje’s name, pointed out that we as Greeks need to be united as a whole against all the attacks to our country which aim to change our borders and mutilate territorially Greece. This is the ultimate goal of the great geopolitical powers of the world’s “chessboard”.
Lastly, the Bishop of Corfu wished to the priests and volunteers of the charity breadlines to be strengthened by our Christ in the efforts to help the others.
