Bishop of Corfu, Mr. Nektarios: “Our Faith changes our Perspectives”
In the celebrating church of Saint Matthaios, in the village with the same name, in Corfu, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektaros did the Divine Liturgy, on Saturday morning, November 16, 2019.
The vision of globalization at that time was to become a humanity without differences in language, religion, people without personalities and subjugated and oppressed in the mentality of power. People opposed the response of faith to that globalization: Christ and His presence, His love for all people, the prospect of eternity overcame the power of time.
This is the case today. The globalization of the times is impoverishing the peoples, wanting them to be deprived of their idolatry, for people to lose their history, culture, language, forfeit their personality, to have slaves in the power of money and power. But today we will resist, listening to the voice of the Church.
Mr. Nektarios concluded by saying that the evangelist Matthew, like the other disciples of Christ, lived the resurrection grace, the fiftieth grace, became preachers of the gospel, sent by Christ to proclaim spiritual freedom to men, their life itself through martyrdom. So too can we be changed by God today if we decide to listen to the voice of the Church, attentive to Christ’s call for truth!
