Bishop of Stagon and Meteora, Mr. Theoklitos: “Saint Spyridon devoted his whole life to Christ”
On Sunday, August 11, 2019, a Vesper took place at the Holy Church of Saint Spyridon’s on the occasion of remembering Saint’s miracle, with their Eminences, the Bishop of Larissa, Mr. Ieronymos, the Bishop of Syros, Tinos, Andros, Kea, Mykonos, Milos, Sifnos, Serifor, Kithnos, Kimolos, Folegandros and Sikinos, Mr. Dorotheos, Thessaliotidos and Fanariofersalon, Mr. Timotheos, Stagon and Meteoron, Mr. Theoklitos, Philippon, Neapoleos, Thasos, Mr. Stefanos and the local one, Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios
In his speech, after thanking the Metropolitan of Corfu for the kind invitation of the local Church, Mr. Theoklitos emphasized that the inhabitants of Corfu Island, from the first moment that came the graceful Scenery of St. Spyridon on the island of Phaiakes opened their heart to him. Holy Spyridon, for his part, wishing to thank the Corfu people, did not stop for centuries to intercede with Christ, conveying the demands of the faithful for salvation.
In addition, the Bishop of Stagon and Meteora pointed out that Saint Spyridon devoted his entire life to the Lord and the Triune God glorified him, flooding him with the grace of the Holy Spirit. The Saint performed miracles both in life and after his ascension. His indestructible relic testifies to nothing but the life of eternity and the transcendence of death, which can only be achieved by coexisting with the Resurrected Jesus Christ.
In closing, Mr. Theoklitos wished both the other Bishops and the many faithful the grace of St. Spyridon to bless their lives.
