Celebrating the Three Holy Hierarchs in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Wednesday morning, January 30, 2019, the Three Holy Hierarchs were celebrated with great glory at the Metropolitan Church of Virgin Mary the Spilaiotissa, where the Matin and the Divine Liturgy took place with his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios.
During the Divine Liturgy, the children’s section of Corfu’s Choir chanted, under the direction of Mrs. Christina Kalliaridou.
Mr. Ioannis Lappas, theologian- vice-headmaster of the High School of Agros, made a speech on behalf of the educational community.
In his speech his Eminence emphasized that the feast of the Three Hierarchs is a tradition of our Orthodoxy from the years of the Eastern Roman Empire. With a lot of regret, we see today, on the part of the authorities, that this holiday is turned into a holiday for the students, which transforms this holiday into laziness. This change is part of the general degradation of all the Orthodox characteristics of our people from the point of view of the state. This eradication against the Church is accompanied by the deletion of our glorious history, with the sell our Macedonia. For a true Greek patriot, this decision causes lamentation and sorrow. But also at international level, foreigners behave uncharacteristically, fighting Greece, the country that gave the lights of civilization to the whole of the world.
Mr. Nektarios also thanked the children’s section of the Corfu Choir, Mrs. Kalliaridou, the Choir chairman Takis Methlinos, Mr. Ioannis Lappas, the Corpus Dormitory Network “THE THIRD HIERARCHES” who proudly held the Divine Liturgy the flag of our Gentile, and especially the children, teachers and parents who responded to the call of the local Church.
Finally, the Bishop of Corfu wished the new children with the Grace of Christ to give daily evidence of the truth to all those who obscurely conceal the truth and history in our time.
Finally, it is worth noting the great attendance of the children to the Holy Communion.
