Episcopal Divine Liturgy in Saint Spyridon in Corfu
On Wednesday morning, December 13, 2017 his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands mr. Nektarios did the Episcopal Divine Liturgy in the Holy Church of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker. The Archimandrite father Agathon Ntatsios did the preaching.
He mentioned that Saint Spyridon most importantly teaches us to have deep faith in Jesus Christ.
Faith means to leave our own will and desires apart and have at the same time everlasting and unchangeable trust to God. Moreover, Saint Spyridon teaches us to cultivate our hearts through spiritual struggles with love to Christ, that is to base our existence on Triadic God. Christ does not have love, He is the love.
The one who loves, sacrificies him/herself and has patience.
Furthermore, father Agathon pointed out that Saint Spyridon is in the Kingdom of God and prays for all of us. At the same time he is also in this world. God’s Grace has allowed his body to be incorruptible, proving to us that humans’ final and real destination is the sky.
In his closing, father Agathon wished to the Bishop of Corfu and the loyal Christians to be kept under Saint Spyridon’s protection and always have his blessings.
It should be noted that during the Divine Liturgy, the Philarmonic Band “Mantzaros” played hymns to praise Saint Spyridon.
