Litany of Saint Spyridon’s Relic and his Epitaph
On Holy Saturday’s morning, April 27, 2019, the Litany of Saint Spyridon’s Relic and his Epitaph took place. This litany is the oldest and goes back to the 16th century, with the miracle that Saint Spyridon made in 1553, saving the island from starvation.
Then the resurrection’s chat was sang by his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios in the Metropolitan Church of Virgin Mary the Spilaiotissa. Its bell was the signal for the breaking of the botides (traditional corfiot easter pots) at 11.00, indicating the first Resurrection.
