Monk Ordination in the New Scete of Hagion Oros
On Thursday morning, April 11, 2019, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the Divine Liturgy and ordained the monk father Joseph, in the New Scete of Hagion Oros and in particular in Saint Charalambos’ hut. Mr. Nektarios is connencted for many years with brother-relationship with Saint Charalambos’ hut and the Holy Monastery of Saint Paul, to which this hut belongs.
In his short speech, the Bishop of Corfu underlined the importance of the Monks’ virtues in the monastical life and most importantly the obedience to their Abbot, the monastical life and everything that characterises the life of monks.
Father Joseph is for more than twenty years in Hagion Oros. While at this world, he had a brilliant career. However, the love for Christ made him leave everything aside and live in the hut of Saint Charalambos, where he fights spiritually.
In his speech, the Abbot of the hut, father Ilarion thanked deeply his Eminence, referring to the brotherly love that connects them and underlining at the same time the great difficulty that Mr. Nektarios went through in order to be present and do the ordination of father Joseph.
In his closing, the Abbot Ilarion wished our Lord through the embassies of our Virgin Mary to help Mr. Nektarios in his difficult work.
