Requesting Prayer for the candidates of the Panhellenic exams in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Monday afternoon, June 3, 2019, the Requesting Prayer for the candidates of the Panhellenic exams took place in the Holy Church of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker.
In his short speech, the Bishop of Corfu pointed out to the students that Corfiots always know that in their difficulties and in their daily life, they always have Saint Spyridon. They should come and worship his relic while praying. The local Church, like every year, prays during the Divine Liturgy for the candidates, to succeed and for their mind to be enlightened. In every case, we should not forget that human will and divine will are different. We may aim at becoming something but Christ as our Father wants us to become something else. Therefore, no one should be sad, or disappointed, or even be discouraged when a “failure” comes. God takes care of us and aims at us becoming better, by thinking that a “failure” is the beginning of something better. When humans have Christ inside them, they trust Him fully and they have nothing to be afraid of.
In his closing, Mr. Nektarios wished good luck to the candidates and for their parents and the teachers to give them courage.
In the end of the Requesting Prayer, Mr. Petros Aggelopoulos, Regional director of Education of the Ionian Islands, Mr. Theodoros Athinaios, principal of the Secondary education and Mrs. Vassiliki Chissa, director of the 5th General High School of Corfu gave a speech on the side of the educational community.
Then, blessings and treats were given to the candidates.
