Steward Ordination in the Holy Metropolis of Corfu
On Sunday, October 14, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Church of Saint George, in Klimatia village, North Corfu. There he ordained as a Steward, the priest of the Church, father Christos Karafotias.
In his speech, the Bishop of Corfu analysed the Gospel’s reading of the day, the parable of the sower. The seed, the word of God that is, cannot be experienced, or understood if not combined before with the spiritual struggle of the faithful, his/her prayers, participation to the Holy Services but also to their selfless love for Christ and their fellow people.
No love for God can exist without love for the fellow people and the opposite. According to the Holy Fathers, the word of God is revealed when people’s hearts are clear and cultivated. There are also hearts of stone, full of pests of sin and evil.
Moreover, his Eminence underlined the need to finally wake up spiritually as a Nation. We have surrendered ourselves to laziness and we do not react. We are aware of the daily attacks not only of our Orthodoxy, but also of our history and civilization.
The targets are set in order to cease to exist even the smallest attempt of resistance in this demolition in the name of the so-called multiculturalism. As a result, Christ’s body, the total of the Christians, is easily transformed into a manipulated mass.
In his closing, Mr. Nektarios asked the faithful ones to open the ears of their hearts, to follow the Lord of Glory, to eventually resist to this mystery of lawlessness taking place today in our homeland.
