The Bishop of Corfu on the Ukrainian Issue
“Hereby and in view of the extraordinary convening the Holy Synod Church of Greece, in which I can not attend because of my scheduled visit to Church Romania and in particular to Iasi, to transfer the right hand of Saint Spyridon, I would like my position on the Ukrainian question to be made known to the hierarchy.
Since I don’t think that the time is right for us to make a decision on this issue, and because geopolitical conditions in the region are probably not very good, I think it would be better if we postponed that decision. It would be good to wait for the other Patriarchates and the Church that precedes us to decide first and not rush.
I would totally agree if we made an attempt to mediate as the Church of Greece in order for a dialogue between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Patriarchate of Moscow to begin.”
