The litany of Protokyriako in Corfu.

With great participation of people the litany of the Holy Relic of Saint Spyridon in Corfu Town took place, on Sunday morning November 4, 2018, on the remembering of Saint’s miracle and the exemption of the island from the plague in 1673.

n the litany were their Eminences, Bishops of Nazareth Mr. Kyriakos, Vresthenis Mr, Theoklitos, Chonis and Samtrendia, Mr. Savvas from Georgia and the local one Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr.Nektarios.

 In his short speech, Mr. Nektarios referred to the uncountable blessings of the Protector of the island, Saint Spyridon who protected and continues to do so the people of Corfu. As Nation today, we are sick because of our parting from God. For this reason, our neighbors have become audacious and  claim our land. The Western people as well covet our Greece, because it is the ark of Orthodoxy and birthplace of civilisation. Their aim is to alternate the grounds that kept us alive throughout centuries.

In his closing, the Bishop of Corfu underlined that the response to all who work for our worsening is the crowd of loyal people who declare that their only hope is Jesus Christ and the Saints of our Church.

It is worth noticing that before the litany, the Divine Liturgy was done, with his Eminence the Bishop of Nazareth, Mr. Kyriakos and the other Bishops of Vrestheni, Mr. Theoklitos, Chonis and Samtrentia, Mr. Savvas and the local one, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr.Nektarios.

 The preaching was made by Mr. Kyriakos who underlined that the graceful relic of Saint Spyridon is a source of cures. According to historical sources, Saint Spyridon is linked to the Holy Land of Jerusalem, since he was present at the opening of the most blessed Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

In his closing, Mr. Kyriakos wished that Saint Spyridon will bless all the Orthodox Christians.
