Bishop of Corfu, Mr. Nektarios: “The Orthodox Church will not agree on selling Macedonia”

On Friday, January 19, 2018, his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios did the Divine Liturgy in the celebrating church of Saint Arsenios, in Lefkimmi.

In his preaching, his Eminence talked about the personality of Saint Arsenios, Bishop of Corfu. He was the spiritual father, the teacher and protector of the island.

This teacher has left his mark on people’s hearts throughout the centuries. Originating from the East, he came and ministered the people of Corfu.

In every chant, it is mentioned that Saint Arsenios emerged as the teacher and leader of God’s will and devoted himself to protect his flock.

His first priority was to keep the loyal Christians in the right faith and through repentance to lead them to Christ. After all, this is the Bishop’s mission.

Moreover, the Bishop of Corfu mentioned extensively the current issue of Skopje’s name, stressing the fact that various foreigners have targeted our homeland and aim to change our boarders.

In the same time, the inappropriate attacks on the Church of Christ are continued by the supposedly democrats, who do not want anyone to criticize them.

They want to limit the power of the Church and keep it in silence. For them, Church is only to do charities. Throughout Greek History, our Church has been at the forefront of all the struggles. The tree of Greece is watered with the blood of the Martyrs. As far as Macedonia is concerned, it is Greek as well.

There is no question of that. Our History should not be negotiated. Alexander the Macedonian was Greek. Every single archaeological finding is written in Greek. They do not have anything to do with the Slavs. Our Church will not agree on selling Macedonia.

In his closing, Mr. Nektarios wished the prayers of Saint Arsenios, Bishop of Corfu to strengthen the loyal Christians in the harsh times that we are going through.
