Vresthenis Mr. Theoklitos: “Ingratitude is a great sin”

On Sunday morning, January 20, 2019, the Matin and the Divine Liturgy took place at the Holy Church of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker, with his Eminence, the Bishop of Vrestheni, Mr. Theoklitos, after the invitation of his Eminence, the Bishop of Corfu, Paxoi and Diapontian Islands, Mr. Nektarios who is in Jerusalem, with many worshippers of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu.

Unfortunately, with our behaviour, we become ungrateful firstly to Christ. He was incarnated, crucified, buried and resurrected from the Dead in order to make us participants of the Divine Grace and citizens of the Kingdom of Heavens. Instead we remain to  our passionate situation, with our selfishness, narcissism and love for only ourselves, thus, taking God away from our lives.

Then we are ungrateful to our parents, who in combination with Christ, brought us to this world. Most importantly, this ingratitude is towards our spiritual fathers, who have so benefited and prayed for us.

Moreover, the Bishop of Vrestheni pointed out that in our days, the authorities not only behave badly but also disrespectfully to our historical ancestors. To those who sacrificed their lives in order for our Macedonia to be Greek.

Therefore, the ones who simply manage the power, do not have the right to sell the Holy name of Macedonia, the land of Saint Dimitrios, the Great Alexander, the ones who fought for Macedonia and all the heroes.

Our Church does not hold grudges to anyone, but prays to Christ to help the ones in power repent and give them enlightening, since we all are sinful.

In his closing, Mr. Theoklitos wished  the loyal to be blessed by our Lord, to give them His Grace, through the embassies of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker.

Finally, the Archimandrite, Father Ioustinos Konstantas, Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu thanked the Bishop of Vrestheni, on behalf of Mr. Nektarios, while wishing to the former, health and God’s courage.
